Saturday moves from the old town upward
Begin in Vieux-Nice with a short route through Cours Saleya and toward Place Rossetti. Check market hours if shopping is important; the square and streets remain worth exploring even when the particular stalls you expected are not trading. Have lunch nearby, keeping the afternoon free of a tight reservation.
If conditions are suitable, visit Castle Hill after the old-town walk or move it earlier to avoid uncomfortable heat. Choose the stairs or an available lift according to your needs, verifying operation rather than relying on an old description. There is no standing castle to tour; the park and views are the reason to go. Descend before fatigue makes the route unpleasant.
Sunday adds culture, then returns to the shore
Choose a museum or other cultural interior for Sunday morning based on your interests, checking the exact location and opening arrangements. Some collections require a trip beyond the immediate old-town area, so include that journey in the plan. One considered visit is enough before lunch.
Use the afternoon for a selected section of the Promenade des Anglais or the port-side area. Keep it modest if you are departing later that day. You do not need to walk from one end of the bay to the other to appreciate the coast. Find a place to sit, observe the sea and return with time to collect your bags.
A coastal weekend without a weather gamble
If Saturday is wet, prioritize the indoor visit and move Castle Hill only if a suitable interval appears. If wind makes the promenade uncomfortable, stay with the old-town streets and a longer meal. Pebbly beaches, swimming conditions and seasonal facilities deserve separate consideration; a beach pause need not involve entering the water.
This plan intentionally excludes Monaco, Èze and other nearby destinations. Each introduces transport and a different set of slopes or attractions. Staying in Nice allows you to revisit a street at a different hour and makes the weekend less dependent on connections. If you strongly prefer an excursion, replace a complete day rather than squeezing it between the city's main activities.
